Decorative Robot with a Rotating Ball

This is a decorative robot. It has a DC motor with reduction gear which activates the turning movement of a glass covered ball under 6 superbright LEDs of various colors.

The lights are turned ON and OFF by the microcontroller producing several visual effects. And the speed - direction of the lightball turn is also being controlled by the micro. It also contributes to the visual effects with hundreds of reflected lightbeams. A nice view when dark.



and the system works only when its dark by means of a lightsensor.

Oz Chip Applications: Two new prototypes

Cırcırböceği Prototipi

Cırcırböceği kitimizin program geliştirmesinde kullanılmış prototiptir. İki katlı bir pcb yapısına sahip olup, iki pcb nin alttakine pil, motorlar vs gibi ağır parçalar, üsttekine ise sık sık ulaşılması gereken mikroişlemci ve diğer hafif parçalar monte edilmiştir. Minicik boyutlarıyla tam bir böcek görünümünde olan robot çalışmasının bir de açma kapama anahtarı mevcut. Robotun alt kısmında ise 6 adet programlama ve komut tuşları bulunuyor. Önde çarpma ve pcb altında da ışık sensörü bulunuyor. Basit araç gereçler kullanılarak yapılabilecek, minik boyutları nedeniyle şirin ve bir o kadar da hareketli güzel bir robot böcek çalışması.



Pervaneböceği Prototipi

Bu çalışmamız daha ilginç. Üzeri eski bir mouse ambalajından çıkmış plastik parça ile örtülü ve daha önceki yazılarımız arasında bulunan yangın söndürücü böceğin işlevlerine sahip; karanlık bir ortamda rastgele serpiştirilmiş bulunan istediğiniz kadar sayıda mumu tek tek bulur ve söndürür. Bu prototipin bir ilginçliği daha var; o da eski bir oyuncaktan sökülmüş olan ses efektleri chipi. Bu devre sayesinde robot böceğimiz mumu bulduğunda, söndürme işlemini yaparken bir yandan da çok güzel ses efektleri üretiyor, çeşitli silah ve savaş efektlerine ek olarak konuşuyor ve mumu doğduğuna pişman ediyor :). izlemesi çok eğlenceli bir çalışma.

Bu tip eski oyuncaklardan sökülmüş ses, efekt vs chiplerini robot böcek uygulamalarımızda çok rahatlıkla kullanabiliyoruz ve çok ucuza ilginç neticeler ortaya çıkartmış oluyoruz. Oz Chip Applications: Light-chasing Robot Head

Our robot head project is improved a bit more. Reduced in number, this head uses only two servos. it doesn't need to be head shaped, any shape is ok, can be a sunflower, a bug or a simple arrow. anything you can imagine and manage to cut out off sheet plywood. I had had a ready head in hand, so i've used it.

This head is controlled by two separate microcontrollers. I wanted to separate light measurement procedure and servocontrol so as to enable both systems can also be used alone.



So, we got two microcontroller chips. One controls the position of two servomotors according to the info at its 4 input pins.

The other chip takes care of the light levels and measures light by its 4 separate photodiodes. By comparing all light info coming from the sensors (measured within 32 levels : 5 bit by capacitor charge discharge method), it changes the states of its 4 output pins. 2 pin for each servo. 10 to turn one direction, 01 to the other direction, 00 or 11 is stop. The same signals are valid for a H bridge circuit (can be seen at our tutorils section) as well. By using H bridges, you can use DC motors with reduction gear (or hacked servos) and obtain a more precise light following robot head.

Oz Chip Applications: Underwater Robots

Animatronic Robot Head

I've improved the old robot head project which can be found at the old articles link..



The head will be powered by servomotors and will be built from sheet plastic, metal or plywood. The template which can be used for cutting sheet material can be found at the end of this article. Download the template, compare the size of the printed servomotor with your servomotors at hand. Do the necessary resizing operations by photocopying the print, or you may directly print at the desired dimension. Copy the print onto the sheet material, you may use a simple carbon paper and do the copying by redrawing the lines by hand. The hand will apply some pressure on to the carbon paper and enable it to leave marks on the sheet material. The marks will be the outlines of the template. Cut the marks with a thin plywood saw untill you complete all parts of the head. Sand them a bit to have nicer looking and well fitting parts.



After cutting, assemble all pieces according to the renderings in this article. The head at this article is designed to be powered by 7 servos. So the eyes move independently looking to sides, up and down. The head can turn (look) right-left, up and down. The jaw can also move to do movements like speaking or laughing.
