Bushnell’s Turtle Submersible

In 1776, during the American Revolution, inventor David Bushnell decided to take his skills to the next level and build a submarine. And not just any submarine, mind you – this one was specifically designed to attack British ships!

Now, you might be thinking, “But wait, how could a guy in the 18th century possibly build a functional submarine?” Well, let me tell you, Bushnell was no ordinary inventor. He was a genius, a visionary, and a bit of a madman.

Turtle (also called American Turtle) was the world’s first submersible vessel with a documented record of use in combat. It was built in 1775 by American David Bushnell as a means of attaching explosive charges to ships in a harbor, for use against Royal Navy vessels occupying American harbors during the American Revolutionary War. The submarine he built was called the Turtle, and it was shaped like, you guessed it, a turtle. It was about six feet long and three feet wide, and it had a hatch on top that could be opened and closed by the operator.

Type 209-1400 Submarine

The Type 209 is a class of diesel-electric attack submarine developed exclusively for export by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft of Germany. The original variant (Type 209/1100) was designed in the late 1960s. The class is exclusively designed for export market. Despite not being operated by the German Navy, five variants of the class (209/1100, 209/1200, 209/1300, 209/1400 and 209/1500) have been successfully exported to 13 countries, with 61 submarines being built and commissioned between 1971 and 2008. Submarine Kursk

K-141 Kursk (Russian: Атомная Подводная Лодка «Курск» (АПЛ «Курск»), transl. Atomnaya Podvodnaya Lodka “Kursk” (APL “Kursk”), meaning “Atomic-powered submarine Kursk“) was an Oscar II-class nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine of the Russian Navy.

Here is a 3d model of the Kursk. It is specificly optimized for 3d printing.

Akula Class Nuclear Submarine.

This is just an other model of the well known Akula class, but this one is aimed for 3d printing.
The details are adjusted for 3d printability. There are several versions included for easy printing in various printers. There are also shell versions with emty interiors for projects like RC submarines etc.

Astute Class Nuclear Submarine

The Astute class is the latest class of nuclear-powered fleet submarines (SSNs) in service with the Royal Navy. The class sets a new standard for the Royal Navy in terms of weapons load, communication facilities and stealth. The boats are being constructed by BAE Systems Submarines at Barrow-in-Furness. Seven boats will be constructed: the first of class, Astute, was launched by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in 2007, commissioned in 2010, and declared fully operational in May 2014. The Astute class is the replacement for the Trafalgar-class fleet submarines in Royal Navy service.

Type-212 U-Boat.

The German Type 212 class, also Italian Todaro class, is a highly advanced design of non-nuclear submarine (U-boat) developed by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG (HDW) and Fincantieri S.p.a. for the German and Italian Navy.

The3d model is very close to the real thing with fine details and it also actually dives :). it is powered by a twisted rubber band power and controlled with adjustable diving planes.
