Evolution of the Giant.

For those who have followed our journey at EnDTaS, the Lun-Class Ekranoplan has always been more than just a model to us—it is a symbol of audacious, boundary-pushing engineering. In our previous release (click here to open it in a new tab), we focused on capturing the sheer scale and imposing presence of the Soviet “Sea Monster,” providing a high-fidelity 1-meter replica for collectors and historians.
But for us, a static model is only the beginning. As a studio dedicated to Experimental Naval Designs, we asked ourselves: How do we move this behemoth from the shelf to the water?
From Display Piece to Dynamic Platform
The challenge of the Lun-class is its inherent contradiction: it is a massive, heavy-looking vessel that must remain light enough to exploit the ground effect. To translate this into a successful RC project, we couldn’t simply use the same geometry as the display model. Weight is the enemy of performance.
We are proud to introduce the Lun-Class Ekranoplan RC-Ready Lightweight Edition. This isn’t just a refinement; it is a complete engineering overhaul designed specifically for the motivated maker and RC enthusiast.

Technical Breakthroughs: Engineering the “Lightweight” Build
In this updated version, we have prioritized the strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring the model maintains its iconic silhouette while shedding unnecessary mass.

Key improvements in this edition include:
- Weight-Optimized Geometry: We have re-engineered the internal structures to reduce bulk without sacrificing structural integrity. This ensures the vessel sits correctly in the water and responds better to propulsion.
- RC-Centric Architecture: Unlike the previous version, this model is designed from the inside out. It features optimized internal layouts to accommodate servos, battery packs, and electronic speed controllers (ESCs) without disrupting the external lines.
- Modular Additive Assembly: The segmentation has been refined for additive manufacturing, making it easier to print on standard desktop machines while ensuring a tighter, more waterproof fit during assembly.
- Enhanced Stability: By shifting the center of gravity and refining the hull’s interaction with the water, we’ve created a platform that is far more viable for actual RC operation.

Bringing the Legend to Life
The original Lun (Project 903) was designed to hunt aircraft carriers; our new model is designed to hunt for the thrill of the build. Whether you are an experienced RC pilot or a 3D printing enthusiast, this lightweight edition provides the perfect balance between a striking centerpiece and a functional machine.

We invite you to take the “Caspian Monster” out of the museum and onto the pond.
