A New RC-Ready Addition to the Endtas Collection (1:34 Scale)

We are pleased to announce the release of our latest large-scale printable vessel, the USCG Point Class Cutter, a detailed 1:34 scale model inspired by one of the most successful patrol boat classes ever operated by the United States Coast Guard.

Built between 1960 and 1967, the Point-class cutters were designed as versatile coastal patrol vessels capable of carrying out search and rescue, law enforcement, fisheries protection, anti-smuggling operations, and military duties. The class became particularly well known during the Vietnam War, where several Point-class boats were transferred to Southeast Asia and served in Operation Market Time, conducting coastal interdiction and patrol missions. Compact, fast, and highly maneuverable, these vessels earned a reputation for reliability that kept many of them in service for decades.

Our new model reproduces the distinctive appearance of the Point-class cutter at a substantial 73 cm (28.7 inch) overall length, making it large enough to support serious RC conversion projects while remaining practical and economical to print. At this size, builders can incorporate motors, batteries, servos, lighting systems, sound modules, and other electronics without the space limitations commonly encountered in smaller models.

The design was developed specifically around the capabilities of standard hobby-grade 3D printers. The main hull is divided into eight large printable sections, while the superstructure consists of two primary sections, allowing the complete vessel to be produced on printers with a build volume of only 220 × 220 × 250 mm. Alignment features have been incorporated throughout the design to simplify assembly and ensure accurate positioning of major components.

While the base model can be assembled relatively quickly, builders wishing to pursue a more detailed project will find a large selection of accessories included with the package. More than 180 individual detail parts are supplied, covering deck equipment, fittings, armament options, navigation equipment, lifesaving gear, and numerous other features commonly found aboard these vessels. For convenience, these accessories are also provided as a color-organized 3MF file, making it easier to locate and print desired components.

One feature we particularly enjoyed recreating was the cutter’s numerous operational hatches and access points. Many of the major hatches found on the original vessel have been reproduced as separate functional components. For RC builders, the model incorporates two large removable deck hatches aft, providing direct access to the interior hull. These openings can be fitted with gasket material and secured using either magnets or screws according to the builder’s preferences. The entire bridge structure can also be removed, creating additional access for maintenance and equipment installation.

Although designed with RC conversion in mind, the model is equally suitable as a static display piece. Builders may choose a straightforward assembly using only the primary components, or invest additional time detailing the vessel with the extensive accessory set. Both approaches can produce an impressive representation of this historic Coast Guard workhorse.

The Point-class cutter joins a growing collection of naval, civilian, and historical vessels developed by Endtas. We continue to focus on subjects that are interesting from both historical and modeling perspectives while remaining practical for hobbyists to print, build, and enjoy.

We hope this new model will find its way onto workbenches, display shelves, and RC lakes around the world. As always, we look forward to seeing builders’ photographs, modifications, and completed projects.
